Recognized for his lyrical sensitivity, evocative melodies, and expressive piano improvisations, Benjamín Gísli Einarsson has established himself as an exciting new voice in the Nordic jazz scene. While rooted in jazz, his music reaches far beyond—blending classical influences, rich harmonies, and an instinct for storytelling. Whether performing solo or as part of a collective, his playing is defined by dynamic interplay, emotional depth, and an ever-evolving sense of exploration.
Born and raised in Iceland, Benjamín’s journey has taken him across Europe, performing at major jazz festivals and collaborating with some of the most exciting young voices in the scene. After earning his Bachelor's degree from the prestigious Trondheim Music Conservatory (NTNU, Jazzlinja) in 2022, he quickly became an in-demand musician in both Norway and Iceland, working with groups such as Bliss Quintet, Bento Box Trio, and Tuva Halse Quintet. His trio, Benjamín Gísli Trio, released their debut album Line Of Thought in 2023 to international acclaim.
Beyond his own projects, Benjamín has received recognition for his work, including being a finalist in Jazzintro both in 2022 and 2024, Norway’s premier competition for emerging jazz artists, and receiving the Árni Scheving Memorial Fund award for promising Icelandic jazz musicians. He is also a co-founder of Fjordgata Records, a Trondheim-based label dedicated to showcasing forward-thinking Nordic artists.
